"We met at 8, dated at 16, broke up at 17, traveled the world and learned a lot about ourselves and others, saw each other again at 25 and got married 6 months later."

Abram James

Abram (亚伯兰, Yà bó lán) was born at a birthing center near Chardon, Ohio.  His mom was always in the garden and his dad was a horticulturalist. He was 5 in 8 kids and they all have a great work ethic to this day. In his early years he worked in the garden alongside his mom and was very active: hiking, cycling and swimming. His teenage years led him to finish high school early and help takeover the family landscaping business. His 70 hour workweeks didn’t diminish his creative and adventuring spirit. He made a habit of spending the winter months driving across America and traveling the world. Travel and music were as much apart of his life and family as his commitment to the business. At the age of 22 he sold his shares of the company and moved to Alaska to work on a fishing boat. After wandering through several states he was reintroduced to his childhood sweetheart, Lindsay, and 6 months later he was married and moving yet again, but this time to a country he had never been.

Abram was a landscaper ever since he could fit into work boots. When this photo was taken, he was into playing his new bass guitar (he would later teach himself piano and guitar) and learning mechanics while rebuilding his dad's 1988 CJ7.

Lindsay Rebekah

Lindsay (林洁, Lín jie) grew up in NE Ohio.  She was raised by her mom who could practically make anything out of nothing and was used to being woken in the night by sounds of nail guns and wood saws. As an only child she was well acquainted with quiet afternoons filled with books, music and photography. She had numerous photography jobs and serval opportunities to travel in her teen years. These gave her a well-rounded worldview and a transformative way of thinking, "Ask for the world and see what you get.” This birthed in her the desire to not limit what she could accomplish in life. At the age of 22 she moved to Kunming, China and learned Mandarin in hopes of doing an art walk across China. Through a series of unplanned events (aka getting married!!) she recently relocated with her husband to Guangdong to prepare for their walk across China.

Lindsay got her first camera at 14 from her grandpa, a Cannon AE-1 and has been taking photos ever since. When she took this photo she was into drinking tea, reading through her Time Life Library of Photography books and making collages while listening to Carole King or a book on tape.

During their 8 years apart...
Abram took a year off work to live in Sweden and travel to Norway and Finland. Because his job was seasonal, he was able to do big trips every winter. In 2010 he went to Italy and made 2 extensive road trips across the US, every state but Hawaii. Winter 2011 he went with 2 friends to New Zealand and Australia. It was there he decided to work one more year for the company and then sell. In 2012 to 2014 he moved to Alaska to fish and then onto California and Texas and even fit in a trip to Panama.
Lindsay worked at starbucks to help pay for school, and graduated with a general associates of arts. She also worked for a classical music organization helping with graphic design and photography. Her first trip to China was in 2009 to visit her mom who had moved there in 2008. 2010-2011 would bring 2 more trips to China, a trip to Thailand and South Korea. In 2012 she finally moved to china to learn mandarin for 2 years.

They reunited in 2014. It Lindsay's first time in America in 2 years.
The wedding was 6 months later.
